HYTORC, in partnership with Munich-based engineering company JUKO Technik, has developed a servo-controlled tightening system specially designed for use with hydraulic torque wrenches.
So we wanted to respond to the new demands of different companies to adapt to the concept of modern industry. ECO2TOUCH meets the requirements described in the new VDI/VDE 2862 / 2 standard for tightening Class A bolted joints. This intelligent system has been designed to generate numerous documented tightening programs, with high torque values, using the full range of hydraulic torque wrenches manufactured and designed by HYTORC USA.

The operator selects the model of Hytorc hydraulic wrench he wishes to use with the pump directly from the remote control, and can set the torque in N.m. without having to worry about the correspondence between the desired torque and the pressure to be set – the pump does it for him.
This avoids errors of wrong choice of chart or calculation of an intermediate value that is not in the chart. With the VECTOR hydraulic pump with electric motor, it’s all about clamping and no superfluous intermediate parameters. The handling of the hydraulic pump is greatly reduced, making life easier for the operator by eliminating this adjustment step that is not obvious to everyone.
The VECTOR pump is equipped with a flow meter per outlet which allows it to know when the piston of the hydraulic wrench is fully extended to start its return without losing time. With conventional hydraulic pumps, the operator had to detect the end of stroke visually or by noise to trigger the return of the piston and vice versa, which was quite random with lost time or unfinished cycles.
With the VECTOR hydraulic pump, the operator presses the trigger and follows the progress of the tightening on the remote control screen which indicates the tightening, control and end of tightening phases where the operator can release the trigger to move on to the next bolt. When four keys are used simultaneously, this automatic detection is appreciated because it is difficult to monitor all 4 keys to trigger the cycles at the right time without losing time.
A hydraulic wrench torque application is considered complete when the bolt is no longer turning while the wrench is applying force to it, not when the piston has reached the end of its travel. Sometimes it is not clear whether the piston is at the end of its stroke or whether the bolt is really finished tightening. By combining the information on the quantity of oil sent to the key and the hydraulic pressure applied, the pump is able to detect the end of the tightening process after having completed the two recommended control cycles (phase identified on the remote control). The validation of the tightening is no longer left to the simple appreciation of the operator. With data logging, you can keep track of every tightening performed and the proper validation of the completion of the tightening of each screw in the bolted assembly.
